Why attendance is important:
*starting in Kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school
*missing just 18 days of school can make it harder to read
*Students can still fall behind if they just miss a day or two every few weeks
*Absences can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up
Attend School Daily
There is absolutely no substitute for being in class. Young people need to be present to hear teachers explain concepts, to participate in group projects and class discussions, and to ask questions. Checking students out early can also have a negative impact on your child's success. Make daily attendance in school a priority.

Schedule appointments after school
Schedule doctor, dentist, and orthodontist and other appointments for before or after school hours whenever possible. If you cannot do so, try to arrange them for lunchtime.

Get Plenty of Sleep
It will be easier for you child to get up on time for school if he has had at least nine hours of sleep. Set a reasonable bedtime, and make sure your child puts away electronic devices so he/she isn't tempted to stay awake to read messages or play games.
